영국 드라마 - IT 크라우드 S1 EP01

한국어로 직역하기 보다는 영어에서 어떻게 쓰이는지 영영사전이나 영어 정의를 통해 받아들이는게 쉐도잉에 목적에는 좀 더 부합한 것 같아 개인적으로 한국어 설명이 필요한 경우에만 한글을 적어 놓겠습니다.

menial :  not requiring much skill and lacking prestige.

distasteful : causing dislike or disgust; offensive; unpleasant.

 단어를 검색하다 보니 Not a phrase to worry about or try to use. Very out of date.  이라는 댓글이 달려있네요 ㅎㅎ 

IT크라우드에 나오는 주인공인 로이와 모스는 너드이며 사람들과 잘 어울리지 못합니다. 그래서 사용하는 단어와 행동에 있어서 코믹요소를 심어두었는데, 그 맥락에서 사용되는 단어인 것 같네요

in ages와도 같이 사용됩니다.

남녀 공용화장실에서 젠이 덴홈에게 '앨리 맥빌' 같다는 말을 합니다. 

미드 '앨리 맥빌'에서 나오는 공용화장실을 말합니다.

위에 링크를 보시면 Unisex Bathroom 이라고 되어있습니다.

영국에서는 젠의 대사를 보면  " You have unisex toilets, like Ally McBeal?"

 

미국에서는 TOILET이라고 하면 변기를 의미합니다.

 

미국 - RESTROOM for department, airport

          BATHROOM  for home 

 

영국 - LOO

          BATHROOM

          TOILET 변기말고 화장실 전체를 말합니다.
